Engagement

Since I'm updating this blog for the first time in a year, we would like to congratulate Grandma Heiner on her engagement to John Robinson.  Her wedding will be Saturday, September 7 at the Grover Church.  Here is a picture of the happy couple.

And another one of Gary being goofy, just because :)

2013 Astle Family Reunion

HELLO EVERYONE!!
Here is just a shout out to Sues for a great family reunion this past weekend.  Here are a few collages I had put together for my scrapbook to highlight some of the events of the weekend.  I apologize they feature mostly my family, but it was for my scrapbook, so sorry.  We would love for all of you to post some of your favorite memories and pictures of this past weekend.  For those of you who weren't able to make it, here is a quick rundown of what we did:

We started out Friday night by going to see Grandma's play "Just a Doggone Minute!"  As always, Grandma did a wonderful job.  She is a very talented woman :)

After the play we headed over the Grover Park for our late night movie.  This is what we watched this year:

The next morning we kicked things off with our 'Biggest Loser' weigh in and then had our race to the cemetery and back.  It was a beautiful morning for a walk/run.

The top 3 finishers over all were:
1.  Daniel/Cael Delgado - tie
2. Sam Schwab
3. Beau Tippetts

According to age divisions the winners were:
Kids
1. Daniel/Cael Delgado
2. Toby Allen

Adults 20-40
1. Sam Schwab
2. Beau Tippetts
3. Cortney Delgado

Adults 40-90
1. Gary Astle
2. Robyn Astle
3. Mike Astle

The Astle Sisters crossing the finish line:)

To honor and remember Grandpa Elmo Astle, each participant in the race, once they reached the cemetery, took a flower and put it by Grandpa's grave.  After the race we took up the little kids and let each of them put a flower in the vase as well.  We love and miss Grandpa Astle.  I'm sure he's watching over us and joined us that day as well.
We spent the day doing a variety of events.  We did some kickball and enjoyed spending time with each other...

 A water balloon toss...

Some goofing off.....Daniel is sporting the remains of our kickball that unfortunately met its demise on a barbed wire fence during our game.

Allen's treated us all to some tasty and refreshing snow cones

There was some volleyball, visiting, and eating as well.

The kids made a craft in the afternoon.  They then used their adorable bug catchers to go and search for bugs to fill them with.

That afternoon, Sues also handed out awards to those who placed in the cemetery race, those who reached their fitness goals, and those who completed reading their Book of Mormon.  We would like to congratulate AMY ASTLE for winning the Biggest Loser contest!!!  (Sorry I don't have a picture of her winning the coveted prize money)

Overall it was a great day and we appreciate Sues for all she did!  We enjoyed seeing everyone and being challenged the past few months to work on our goals and improve ourselves.  Like I mentioned above please share your favorite memories and photos as well.  We love you all!  See you at next years reunion!!

Astle 2012 Reunion

This year's reunion was done by the Schwab family.  It was a very fitting "Olympic" theme and a whole lot of FUN!!  There were lots of opportunities to earn coveted Olympic medals, and it was pretty great to see everyone doing their best in the different events.  Below are just a few snapshots of the games...

Deb, our faithful host, scorekeeper, announcer, judge, and medal awarder.

Some serious paddle ball competition

 Working the yo-yo's...

Taking their shot at  'Around-the-World' basketball...

Jumping fiends...

Finally ending it all so exhausted, even the cement floor in the kitchen seemed like a good place to lay down and crash :)

THANK YOU
Schwab family for fun times, great food, and a whole lot of memories!!
(We would love to see any pictures you guys have of the reunion as well.  Feel free to share them with all of us!)
